2018 DST Quick Guide

Note: If you previously programmed your Model 175 for the updated DST change dates, you should not have to program the DST change dates again for 2018. The unit remembers the start date as the second Sunday in March and the end date as the first Sunday in November. Once set, the clock automatically updates the settings every year thereafter. No further manual setting is necessary unless the law regarding the start and end dates of DST changes again.

Use the instructions below if you did not set up your clock previously for automatic DST change dates or for whatever reason need to change your DST programming for 2018.

General Information

Although the 175 is already running on a lithium battery when you receive it, the clock must be plugged in to a steady power source in order to perform any of the following functions.

To program the machine, remove the case to access the five tactile switches, SW5 to SW1, located below the LCD display. Note that pressing and holding these switches will cause the setting options to advance faster.

  2. Press the Fingerprint (FP) Setup button (located below the front digital display, on the right).
  3. Press the Down button until the LED Display shows rtc. Press Enter.
  4. Two sets of digits will be displayed. The first two digits set the hour in 24-hour format (i.e. 00–23) and the last two digits set the minute (00–59). Set the hour to the current hour. Then set the minute one minute ahead of the current time so you can sync the clocks as soon as the minute advances.
  5. After setting the minute, press the Enter button for three seconds. The two digit value for seconds is displayed (00–59). Set the seconds at 00.
  6. Wait for the clock’s minute to advance, then press and hold the Enter button for three seconds. This will synchronize the RTC to within a few seconds of the System Clock. As long as the RTC and System Clock are within a minute of each other, there shouldn’t be any problem.

Note: if no buttons are pressed for 30 seconds the clock will exit fingerprint settings. If you need to wait more than 30 seconds for the System Clock minute to roll forward, press the Enter button to toggle between the seconds digits before 30 seconds has elapsed. Each time you press the Enter button you will re-set the timeout counter.

Completing Setup

When you’ve completed the setup, move the Setup switch up to exit Setup Mode, and replace the clock cover.

Setting Daylight Saving Time

Daylight Saving Time Function

DST Execution Time: At 2:00 a.m. on the first day of Daylight Saving Time, the clock automatically gains one hour to show 3:00 a.m. When 3:00 a.m. comes on the last day of the Daylight Saving Time, it loses one hour and returns to 2:00 a.m.

Setting DST: The clock offers three DST modes.

1 (Automatic) DST is automatically set from the atomic clock signal
2 (Off) The clock does not adjust for DST
3 (Manual) Set the DST start and end dates yourself

The factory default setting is 1 (Automatic).

Automatic Updates (Default Setting)

RECOMMENDED If your clock is receiving atomic signals and you observe the U.S. standard Daylight Saving Time change, simply leave the clock’s DST mode set to the default of 1. The clock will automatically adjust for DST on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November every year based on the NIST WWBV Signal.

In this event, no further setting is necessary for Daylight Saving Time. The clock will handle the change automatically.

No DST Updates

If you wish to turn off the Daylight Saving Time adjustment entirely, press the [SELECT] button until the arrow points to DST. Press [CHANGE] until the number 2 is displayed. Press [SET] to accept this setting.

If you do this, the clock will NOT adjust at all for Daylight Saving Time.

Manual Updates

To set the DST start and end dates manually, follow the instructions below. The unit will remember the start and end dates you set, and automatically update the settings every year thereafter. No further manual setting is necessary unless you need to change your DST schedule.

Setting DST Mode to Manual

Press the [SELECT] button and position the downward pointing arrow above the DST mark. The flashing Mode number means it can be changed.

How do I adjust the ESP180 for the Daylight Saving Time Change (DST)?

Last Updated: 2 years ago >in

Programming overview

To enter the programming mode, insert the key in the bottom of the unit and turn clockwise one-quarter turn. Then remove the key. The machine will remain in programming mode until both ends of the print bar are pressed at the same time or until it reaches the end of the programming menu cycle.

In the programming mode, the print bar becomes two separate programming switches. The portion closest to the front, which we call the Edit Button, edits the current setting. Press it to change data. If you hold down the button, the selections will advance more quickly. The portion closest to the rear of the printer, which we call the Accept/Advance Button, accepts the setting and advances the procedure to the next option in the programming menu.

Illustration of the edit button and the accept/advance button locations on the ESP180

To exit the programming sequence, either press both ends of the print bar at the same time or continue through the end of the programming sequence. You may exit the programming sequence at any time except when customizing printing formats. The ESP180 will save the new settings and return to the time and date display.

Setting Daylight Saving Time (DST)

Make sure the ESP180 is in programming mode. Press the Accept/Advance Button until you see DST flash in the display. Then, either the word OFF or ON will appear in the display.

Illustration of digital display showing DST in the display window

OFF and ON indicate whether the Daylight Saving Time feature is turned on off or on.

If ON is displayed, the clock will automatically make the DST adjustment on the first Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October, which were the U.S. standards at the time the clock was manufactured. You have the option of changing the start and stop dates for the automatic time change. If you elect this option, you must reprogram the dates for time changes at the beginning of each year.

If OFF is displayed, no automatic time changes will be made. If you elect this option, you must manually reset the time at each Daylight Saving Time change.

To change OFF to ON, or vice versa, press the Edit Button.

Press the Accept/Advance Button to accept the desired Daylight Saving Time option shown on the display. If you choose OFF, no automatic time adjustments will be made. If you choose ON, you will then be able to edit the start and stop months and dates for time changes in your region, if necessary.

If you have chosen ON, SDST (Start Daylight Saving Time) will flash in the display, then the Daylight Saving Time start month will be displayed.

To change the start month shown, press the Edit Button. The display will cycle through the twelve months.

When you have reached the month you need, press the Accept/Advance Button to accept the Daylight Saving Time start month shown on the display.

Then a date in that month will appear on the display, with the date portion of the display flashing. To change the start date shown, press the Edit Button. When you have reached the date you need, press the Accept/Advance Button to advance to the next programming option, the setting of End Daylight Saving Time.

EDST (End Daylight Saving Time) will flash in the display, then the month in which Daylight Saving Time ends will be displayed.

To change the End Daylight Saving Time month, press the Edit Button. The display will cycle through the twelve months.

When you reach the month you need, press the Accept/Advance Button to accept the month shown on the display.

Then the date will appear on the display, along with the month. The date portion of the display will be flashing. To change the end date displayed, press the Edit Button. When you reach the date you need, press the Accept/Advance Button to advance to the next programming menu item.

If you have no further changes, you can exit the programming sequence at this point by pressing both ends of the print bar at the same time, or you can continue through the end of the programming sequence.

Setting the time manually

Make sure the ESP180 is in programming mode.

The message TIME will flash, then the current time will appear.
Illustration of digital display showing the TIME messageIllustration of digital display showing display of current time
The minutes will flash, and the seconds will be displayed at the left. The seconds will continue to be displayed until the Edit Button is pressed. Then the seconds will revert to 0.

You should continue to press the Edit Button until the desired time in minutes appears. Then press the Accept/Advance Button to accept the display as shown.

Next, the hour will begin to flash. Press the Edit Button until the desired hour appears, making sure the AM or PM setting is correct. Once again, press the Accept/Advance Button to accept the display as shown. You will then automatically advance to the next programming menu option.

To exit the programming sequence, either press both ends of the print bar at the same time or continue through the end of the programming sequence.

NOTE: When you are in the process of setting the time, the clock will display time in a 12-hour format. You will be able later to take advantage of a separate step in the programming menu to program the clock to display the time in either a 12-hour or a 24-hour format. The clock will display minutes only, not tenths or hundredths.

What do I need to do to update my Attendance Rx based system for the Daylight Saving Time (DST) change?

Last Updated: 2 years ago in ,,,

Products powered by the Attendance Rx software (including Secure PunchIn, ProxTime and Biometric 1000) receive their time and date information from the Windows operating system of the PC or server on which the Attendance Rx software is installed. Their time will be updated automatically when Windows is updated.

In order for your Acroprint software to correctly update for Daylight Saving Time, your computer’s Windows operating system must be properly configured for DST.

For more information about preparing your computer’s Windows operating system for Daylight Saving Time, Acroprint recommends following Microsoft’s guidelines.

  1. Click here to go to the Microsoft web site (www.microsoft.com)
  2. In the search field type daylight saving time — note there is no “s” at the end of saving.

Pendulum 4 systems with ADCT or DC7000 terminals: how do I prepare / adjust for the Daylight Saving Time (DST) change?

Last Updated: 2 years ago in ,,

If you’re running an ATR20/20, ATR9800 or Pendulum system purchased before January 1, 2006 you must disable the DST setting in the Clock Configuration file and reprogram the terminal to disable the old DST dates.

Then you must update the terminal time manually on the DST days by simply sending the time and date when you reprogram the terminal. The time and date is pulled from the local PC, so make sure the PC time is correct before updating the terminal’s time.

Acroprint Pendulum, ATR20/20 and ATR9800 systems sold after January 1, 2006 are compatible with new DST dates.

DC7000 / Pendulum Only

For Pendulum 4 systems configured with DC7000 terminals only, to use the American standard Daylight Saving Time dates (second Sunday in March, first Sunday in November) open the Clocks Configuration file. Make sure the Apply Daylight Savings setting is checked, and select the option to Use American Standard Dates.

Pendulum Clocks Configuration Screen Shot - DC7000

The DC7000 terminals will automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time on the designated dates. This setting will carry forward from year to year. You will not need to program the terminal settings each year for Daylight Saving Time.

To use different dates from the American standard dates with your Pendulum / DC7000 system, follow the instructions below to set custom dates.

ADCT

If you have:

  • A Pendulum, ATR20/20 or ATR9800 system configured with ADCT’s, – OR –
  • A Pendulum system configured with DC7000 terminals and you are not using American standard DST change dates,

You must enter the Daylight Saving Time change dates in the Clock Configuration file and re-program these dates to the terminal. You will need to update these settings at the beginning of each year.

First, make sure the checkbox next to Apply Daylight Savings is checked, and select the option Custom Dates for This Year. Then enter the desired dates in the DST Starts at: field and the DST Finishes at: field. For instance, to set up standard Daylight Saving Time changes in the USA, enter the second Sunday in March in the Starts at: field and the first Sunday in November in the Finishes at: field.

The system will automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time on the dates you program. Remember, you will need to reprogram these settings each year to reflect that year’s dates.

What do I need to do to update my timeQplus system for the Daylight Saving Time (DST) change?

Last Updated: 2 years ago in ,,,,,,,,

The timeQplus software relies on your computer’s system clock to determine the time and date. Therefore, if your computer’s Windows operating system is properly updated for Daylight Saving Time, the timeQplus software will be correct as well.

However, any TQ600P proximity terminals, TQ600M magnetic-stripe terminals, TQ600BC barcode terminals or TQ600B biometric terminals used in this system are not self-correcting for Daylight Saving Time. For terminals to be automatically updated for Daylight Saving Time, they must be in communication with the timeQplus software. Remote (unconnected) terminals must be manually adjusted for the DST change.

  • If your terminal is connected by Serial (Comm) port, the computer it is connected to must be left on over the weekend of the time change. The terminal time and display will be updated at the next polling cycle after the operating system update has occurred.
  • If your terminal is connected via Ethernet (network cable), the computer on which the timeQplus server is installed must be left on over that weekend. The terminal time and display will be updated at the next polling cycle after the operating system update has occurred.
  • If your terminal is remote (not connected to a PC or network), it must be manually adjusted for the DST change. Any punches entered after DST and before adjusting the time on the clock will not be correct and should be adjusted using the Punch Edit screen in the software.

In order for your timeQplus software to correctly update for Daylight Saving Time, your computer’s Windows operating system must be properly configured for DST.

If you need assistance preparing your computer’s Windows operating system for Daylight Saving Time, Acroprint recommends following Microsoft’s guidelines.

  1. Click here to go to the Microsoft web site (www.microsoft.com)

How do I update my timeQplus Biometric (v2) system for the Daylight Saving Time (DST) change?

Last Updated: 2 years ago in

The timeQplus Biometric system utilizes our Attendance Rx software.

The Attendance Rx software relies on your computer’s system clock to determine the time and date. Therefore, if your computer’s Windows operating system is properly updated for Daylight Saving Time, the Attendance Rx software will be correct as well.

However, the TQ100 terminal used in this system is not self-correcting for Daylight Saving Time. Its time is updated by the Attendance Rx software. For the terminal to be correctly updated for daylight saving time, it must be in communication with the Attendance Rx software.

  • If your TQ100 is connected by Serial (Comm) port, the computer it is connected to must be left on over the weekend of the time change.
  • If your TQ100 is connected via Ethernet (network cable) the computer on which the Attendance Rx Server is installed must be left on over that weekend.

The terminal time and display will be updated at the next polling cycle after the operating system update has occurred.

In order for your Acroprint system to correctly update for Daylight Saving Time, your computer’s Windows operating system must be properly configured for DST.

How do I prepare / adjust my Time Q +Plus or Paytime system for the Daylight Saving Time (DST) change?

Last Updated: 2 years ago in

Warning: If you do not disable the automatic DST adjustment feature before the DST change takes place, it is possible you may experience data loss when the Daylight Saving Time change occurs.

If this happens, it may be impossible to recover the data. Please read and carefully follow the instructions below to minimize the potential for unrecoverable data loss.

When the Daylight Saving feature is enabled, the Time Clock Terminal will automatically assign the first Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October as the beginning and ending dates of daylight saving time. Beginning with 2007, ensure the Auto Daylight Saving setting is unchecked to disable the automatic adjustment feature.

Note: time worked totals will not be adjusted for the loss or addition of an hour, but the timecards of the employees on the clock at the time of the transition will indicate that there was a time change.

Changing Daylight Saving Settings — 2007 and beyond

1. Before the scheduled Daylight Saving Time change, from the Time and Attendance Program’s main window, double-click the Setup icon or enter the Selections menu and choose Setup.

2. Click on the More button. A dialog screen titled Clock Terminal Setup – More appears.

3. Ensure the Auto Daylight Saving setting is unchecked to disable the automatic adjustment feature.

When the time changes

1. After the last punch of the workday before the DST change, or before the first punch of the workday after the DST change, print a copy of the current and previous pay period information for your records.

2. After you have printed the reports, go to the administrative options and select Time and Date. Adjust the time as necessary to reflect the DST change.

If data loss has already occurred and you’re running version 5.11 or higher, the system may have saved an Hours Summary Report to your PC. If there is such a report, it will be listed as autorepxxx.rpt (where the “xxx” is replaced by a report sequence number) and can be opened with Notepad or Microsoft Word.

If you’re running a version lower than 5.11 there is no auto-report selection and unfortunately no way to recover this lost information. For the future DST changes be sure the automatic DST adjustment feature is disabled and follow the procedure listed above to change time manually on the Time Q +Plus.
