40 Years of Helping Businesses Worldwide Save Time and Money
For Immediate Release
RALEIGH, NC — April 6, 2009 — Acroprint celebrates its 40-year history this month with a pipeline of top superstores including OfficeMax, distribution through 6,000 office machine dealers and an international business that exports products to over 70 countries. As part of the anniversary year celebration, Acroprint has launched timeQplus Version 3, a new and innovative Windows®-based product line that is tailored to small businesses who want to automate employee time tracking.
Helping millions of small businesses save time and money has been Acroprint’s goal for the past 40 years. Acroprint understands the value of “time” to the bottom line. Lost minutes equal lost dollars. Glenn Robbins, president of Acroprint, commented, “Our standards have remained the same throughout our company history. We have a commitment to quality and a commitment to take care of the customer. This is Acroprint’s focus now and will continue to be in the future.”
Wilbur Robbins, a top-performing salesman at IBM and then Simplex, founded Acroprint in 1969. Robbins introduced a time recorder, the heavy-duty Acroprint Model 125, which would stir the market by offering the dealer community an alternative high-quality, low-cost product. The Model 125 quickly became known for its durability.
Today the company’s distinctive green-colored punch clocks are widely recognized throughout the world. The product has been seen in movies, television shows, DreamWorks® animation and is still manufactured daily on site at Acroprint headquarters in Raleigh, N.C.
Robbins’ son Glenn joined Acroprint after graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1973 and became President in 1986 after the elder Robbins passed away. Glenn Robbins has led the family business through company expansions, product development, and entrance into Superstore and National Office Supply channels.
Glenn is clear about what makes Acroprint successful: a valuable team. “As we grew and added employees, we realized that our employees were our biggest asset. We have been blessed to have so many dedicated, hardworking employees that have been with Acroprint from 15 to 35 years. Everyone here knows how important the customer is to us and is encouraged to treat them like they are the boss. The customers are our lifeline and some of my fondest memories of leading the company have been when I was able to spend a great deal of my time with dealers, vendors and customers.”
Acroprint continues to succeed in the marketplace by offering new products including innovative computer-based biometric solutions, increasing market share, and expanding product offerings to international markets.
Even though methods of time and attendance tracking continue to change, Acroprint stays ahead of the curve. In addition to traditional office machines, electronic time recorders and badge swipe systems, Acroprint recently launched timeQplus v.3 for the small business. This affordable time and attendance solution grows as the business transitions. Software and hardware options are versatile and expandable, allowing customers to mix-and-match input options including PC punch, proximity card terminals and biometrics. All timeQplus terminals are Ethernet ready and feature internal memory to store transactions. These robust systems automate the time and attendance process, saving businesses time and money.
Future trends include more enhanced time and attendance systems. Hand and fingerprint biometrics continue to be increasingly popular because they provide employee verification and help prevent buddy punching. “As workplace protection increases, so does the need for a more complex system,” Glenn explains.
With wage and hour lawsuits on the rise and the economic downturn, businesses now more than ever before need to have an indisputable record of employee time. “There’s an overwhelming business case and payback for customers to implement time and attendance solutions today. Our goal is to be there for our customers to ensure all their needs are met today and in the future. We are proud to have been helping businesses around the world save time and money for 40 years,” summarizes Robbins.
